Free humanitarian aid to Gaza Population through the Amalthea Plan

We wish to inform you that within the framework of the Amalthea Plan, efforts are being made to collect basic food items (e.g., dry food, rice, pasta, etc.) and perishable medicines as essential items for the dispatch of humanitarian aid by sea to the civilian population of Gaza.

We kindly request that any interested organization willing to support the collection of humanitarian aid to contact the following recipients:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amalthea Coordination Center zenon_amalthea@jrcc.org.cy, and Civil Defense pliassides@cd.moi.gov.cy by Monday, April 29, 2024 in order to go through the relevant mechanism.

Regarding the arrangement for the collection of the humanitarian aid, it will be undertaken according to appropriate practices in coordination with Civil Defense. The collection points for the aid will be indicated by Civil Defense to any businesses interested in offering free humanitarian aid.

Funding Scheme for Energy Upgrade and Strengthening the Competitiveness of Large Enterprises

We would like to inform you that in an announcement, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry invites you to submit applications under the “Funding Scheme for Energy Upgrade and Strengthening the Competitiveness of Large Enterprises.”

The submission period will begin on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 9 a.m. and applications will be accepted only through the electronic Grant Scheme System of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, on the website https://fundingapps.meci.gov.cy until June 28, 2024, at 11.59 p.m. The order of priority will be determined based on the order of submission of proposals (immediate evaluation), and the maximum amount of approvals will not exceed the available budget of the Scheme.

Beneficiaries of the Scheme are new or existing Large Enterprises, established or to be established in Cyprus, excluding the areas in which the Government of the Republic of Cyprus does not exercise effective control due to the Turkish invasion. Eligible business activities do not include activities related to the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, as well as the production of wine and wine vinegar listed in Part II of Annex VII to Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013.

Biotech Cluster/SME Matchmaking Mission to Japan

We would like to inform you that the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is organizing a Biotech Cluster / SME mission to Japan.

The mission is organized alongside the “Bio Japan Expo”

· Mission dates: 07-11 October 2024
· Application deadline: 6 June 2024
· Venue: Osaka + Yokohama, Japan

This mission is an excellent opportunity for European companies operating in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences sectors to showcase their products and services first in Osaka, Japan’s historic pharmaceutical industry, from 7 to 8 October 2024, and then at BioJapan Expo, the largest biotechnology event in Yokohama, from 9 to 11 October 2024.
The program targets European SMEs and clusters active in the following sectors:

  • Drug discovery
  • Drug discovery support including AI-assisted drug development
  • Regenerative medicine
  • Digital Therapeutics such as drug-device combinations, non-pharmacological therapy systems

Costs:
The EU-Japan Centre covers all costs directly related to the mission: the booth at the trade fair, transfer costs from Osaka to Yokohama, partnering activities.
The participating company is expected to cover travel to/from Japan, accommodation and living expenses including local transportation and meals.

Program’s objectives:

• Explore partnering opportunities with Japanese Biotech, Pharma, and Healthtech companies
• Meet and network with potential business partners in Japan
• Create new business opportunities and partnerships with Japanese companies
• Gain valuable insights and knowledge about the Japanese market to become more competitive on a global scale as an SME
