Intelligent monitoring and efficient waste reduction in Cyprus Island is a project aimed at to address and implement EU and national legislation on waste management and the circular economy, through catalysation of full implementation of the National Waste Management Plan and the National Waste Prevention Strategy, addressing main gaps identified in the Environmental Implementation Review for Cyprus (2019) and the Early Warning Report for Cyprus (2018). Therefore, the use of the IP tool is of utmost importance for overcoming the existing obstacles in waste prevention and management, as well as to achieve in a coherent and on time way the goals of the National Waste Prevention Programme (NWPP) and the National Waste Management Plan (NWMP). It will also Address the gaps identified both in the Environmental Implementation Review for Cyprus and the Early Warning Report for Cyprus.
The achievement of these goals will enhance the implementation of an integrated approach of waste management through a combined and complementary set of methods, which uses resources in a sustainable manner, aims at the reduction of waste generation, safeguards and protects the environment and human health, and reinforces social and economic growth.
