Extension of the Public Consultation on Waste Management of Furniture, Mattresses and Carpets

We would like to inform you that the Department of Environment has announced an extension of the public consultation period for the draft of the “Waste (Management of Waste from Furniture, Mattresses and Carpets) Regulations” until 7 December 2025.

We remind you that the new Regulations concern the management of waste from furniture, mattresses and carpets in accordance with Article 11B of the Waste Law, within the framework of preventing waste generation and promoting reuse and repair.

In line with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principle, obliged producers are those who place furniture, mattresses and carpets on the market, namely manufacturers and importers.
The Regulations will require obliged producers to establish collective waste management systems for the waste generated from these products.

The draft Regulations are available for public consultation on the e-Consultation platform.
