Revision of the EU Regulation on Deforestation (EUDR)
We would like to inform you that the European Union has amended the original EU Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 on Deforestation (EUDR) through Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, commonly referred to as EUDR 2.0. This revision fully preserves the environmental objectives of the Regulation, namely the prevention of deforestation and forest degradation, as well as the assurance of traceability and compliance throughout the supply chain, while introducing significant administrative and procedural changes aimed at simplifying and improving its implementation.
The most significant amendment concerns the extension of the compliance deadline. For large and medium-sized enterprises, the new compliance date has been set to 30 December 2026, while for micro and small enterprises the deadline has been extended to 30 June 2027. This extension provides businesses with additional time to develop and implement the traceability and due diligence systems required to demonstrate that the products they place on the market do not originate from deforested or degraded land after 2020.
Furthermore, the amendment simplifies certain obligations, such as assigning responsibility for the submission of due diligence statements to the first importer of the product, thereby reducing the administrative burden for other operators within the supply chain.
We would also like to remind you that the Regulation applies to placing and making available on the market of products associated with deforestation or forest degradation, including timber, cocoa, coffee, soy, palm oil, bovine meat, and related products.
The CCCI will continue to inform its members for any updates on decisions, clarifications, and practical issues related to the implementation of the Regulation.
