Care Divide

Mediterranean Bee Hubs
Bridging the gender divide in informal long-term care

Project in brief

CareDivide is a project aimed at addressing the gender disparities in the provision of informal long-term care (LTC), and especially in caring for older family members. In many societies, women are disproportionately responsible for providing long-term care to family members, often preventing them from participating in the workforce or limiting them to part-time employment at the cost of their own economic opportunities, and social status.

Implemented in Cyprus, Romania, Greece, Spain and Italy, CareDivide project aims to develop individually tailored counselling offers for family carers to:

  • Support the re-entry into the labour market
  • Facilitate the recognition of caregiving and work life
  • Strengthen their abilities to develop new career opportunities
  • Improve their knowledge of the job market and develop job application techniques
  • Promote their social, personal and professional competences
