Public Consultation – “The Law on Reduction of National Emissions of Certain Atmospheric Pollutants 2023”

We would like to inform you that the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment is conducting a public consultation regarding the draft of the new law titled “The Law on Reduction of National Emissions of Certain Atmospheric Pollutants 2023.” This law is proposed to replace the “Regulations on Air Quality 2020.”

The new Law replaces the Competent Authority, which will now be the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, rather than the Department of Labour Inspection of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance. There are no substantial changes in the content of the text or the implementation of the regulations.

Comments on the draft can be submitted to the Department of Environment by July 10, 2023, either by mail to the address Department of Environment, 1498 Nicosia or by email to dpsyllides@environment.moa.gov.cy .
