Share your views on the port industry of Cyprus in a Focus Group – Discussion in the framework of the PortAbility project
The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) invites you to participate in a Focus Group Discussion on the future of the port industry in Cyprus, in the framework of the European project PortAbility (Erasmus+), which will take place on Friday, October 24 from 16:30 to 18:00, in person at Frederick University in Limassol.
The discussion will be facilitated by Prof. Angelos Menelaou, Head of the Department of Maritime Transport and Commerce at Frederick University.
PortAbility’s main aim is to address training requirements that will effectively support the transition to a smart and green port ecosystem in an equitable and inclusive manner. The project focuses on equipping professionals in the port sector with the skills required to adapt to digital transformation, green practices, and evolving labour market demands.
Your views will contribute to the design of the PortAbility Blueprint, a strategic framework developed with international partners to guide future policies, training programs, and cooperation models in Mediterranean port regions.
PortAbility seeks to:
• Equip VET staff and businesses in port regions with modern skills to meet new challenges, especially those linked to the smart and green transition in an inclusive and equitable manner.
• Strengthen VET’s role in responding to labour market changes and innovation needs.
• Foster continuous national and European dialogue among stakeholders on policies and inclusion.
• Ensure results are practical, applicable, and beneficial for all actors in port activities.
The Focus Group Discussion will identify the real training needs of professionals across the port ecosystem — including among others, port operators, import/export companies, freight forwarders, logistics providers, ship suppliers and port agents. Your insights will help shape practical training solutions that address today’s challenges and ensure that PortAbility delivers tools and programmes that are relevant, effective, and valuable to Cyprus’ port community.
During the session you will:
• Define key priorities for skills mobility, social inclusion, and the integration of green and digital skills.
• Identify the specific content and resources needed to prepare and support professionals and VET providers for cross-border training and placements.
Your input is instrumental in ensuring that the tools and strategies we develop meet the real needs of local authorities, education providers, and businesses in the port industry.
Please confirm your participation by 20/10/2025 by filling out the participation form here.
