LABOUR FORCE SURVEY (LFS): 4th QUARTER 2023 – Unemployment 5,9%

According to the results of the Labour Force Survey, the labour force in the 4th quarter of 2023 amounted to 491.929 persons or 64,9% of the population (males 69,2%, females 60,9%) in comparison to 489.650 persons (65,5%) in the corresponding quarter of 2022 (Table 1).

The number of employed persons was 462.881 and the employment rate 61,1% (males 65,0%, females 57,4%) in comparison to 455.727 persons (61,0%) in the corresponding quarter of 2022.

The number of unemployed persons amounted to 29.047 and the unemployment rate to 5,9% of the labour force (males 6,0%, females 5,8%) in comparison to 33.922 persons (6,9%) in the corresponding quarter of 2022.

CONSUMER PRICE INDEX (CPI): FEBRUARY 2024 – Inflation 1,8%

In February 2024, the Consumer Price Index increased by 1,03 units and reached 114,93 units compared to 113,90 units in January 2024. In February 2024, the inflation increased by 1,8%. (Table 1)

For the period January-February 2024, the CPI increased by 1,8% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

EMPLOYMENT – NATIONAL ACCOUNTS: 4th QUARTER 2023 (Provisional Estimate) – Annual Change +1,1% in Persons and +1,5% in Hours Worked

Total Employment for the 4th quarter of 2023 is estimated at 476.767 persons, of which 427.298 are employees and 49.469 are self-employed.

Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2022, total employment increased by 1,1% for the 4th quarter of 2023. The most significant percentage increases were observed in the economic activities of Administrative and Supporting Service activities (NACE Ν), Education (NACE P) and Other Service activities (NACE S).
