Amendment of the Immovable Property of the Republic Law

We would like to inform you that the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, informs all interested parties that since October 9, 2023, the licensing process of industrial developments within the Government Industrial Areas has changed.

According to the announcement, among other things, Regulation 8 has been amended, which states that in order to secure a building permit, the applicant/tenant submits architectural plans to the relevant competent Authority, instead of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, as was provided for in the said Regulation prior to the amendment.

Awareness Campaign of Traders for the control of explosives precursors

Many chemicals are used on a daily basis in a wide range of industrial processes, in professional activities as well as in the consumer sector. However, some chemicals can be misused for the illegal manufacture of improvised and non-improvised explosive devices.

As part of the Awareness Campaign of Traders for the control of explosives precursors, which is carried out by the Ministry of Energy, Trade & Industry, an information note is attached that refers to the restrictions on the supply, purchase, and use of certain chemical substances according to Regulation (EU) 2019/1148, in order to avoid their illegal use.

Prefabricated Rooms with Integrated Low-Voltage Electrical Equipment

We would like to inform you that the Department of Electromechanical Services draws the attention of all economic entities involved in the supply chain of prefabricated rooms with integrated low-voltage electrical equipment in the market. This includes manufacturers, authorized representatives within the European Union, importers, distributors, as well as electrical installation consultants and contractors, and the public. It is important to note that their electrical installations fall under the provisions of the “Electricity Regulations of 1941 up to 2019.”

Therefore, before their electrical supply connection, they must undergo an inspection, either by the Electricity Authority of Cyprus in the case of connection to the distribution system or by the Department of Electromechanical Services in the case of connection to a self-generating system.
