Grant Scheme to Encourage the Use of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency in Residences 2024-25

We would like to inform you that the application process for the “Grant Scheme to Encourage the Use of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency in Residences 2024-2025” has begun. The specific scheme includes the new Category A3: “Photovoltaics for Everyone.”
The Grant Scheme provides for the subsidization of the installation of a photovoltaic system and/or roof insulation in existing residences.
The categories of the Scheme include:

• Category A1: Photovoltaics – General Category with a grant of €375 per kW and a maximum grant amount of €1,500 (4kW) – 50% increase for mountainous areas.
• Category A2: PV/ Photovoltaics – Vulnerable Households with a grant of €1,250 per kW and a maximum grant amount of €6,250 (5kW).
• Category A3: Photovoltaics for Everyone with a grant of €250 per kW and a maximum grant amount of €1,000 (4kW), and additionally, an investment repayment of €1,000 per kW with a maximum “repayment amount” of €4,000.
• Category B1: Roof Insulation – General Category with a 50% grant and a maximum grant amount of €2,500 or €25.00 per square meter – 50% increase for mountainous areas.
• Category B2: Roof Insulation – Vulnerable Households with a 75% grant and a maximum grant amount of €3,750 or €37.50 per square meter.

Applications are submitted electronically only through the RES and EE Fund website. Applications must be submitted before the implementation of investments and can be submitted in Greek or English.

Announcement by the Customs Department

Grants Scheme for Encouraging Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Businesses

We would like to inform you that the Department of Environment has announced the opening of applications for the Grants Scheme ‘Encouragement of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction in Businesses’.

The Scheme is part of Cyprus’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and is funded by the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (RRM).

The grant intensity amounts to 60% and up to €18,500 for large enterprises, 70% and up to €15,500 for medium enterprises, and 80% and up to €11,500 for small enterprises, of the approved investment program.

The total amount allocated for the needs of this call is €5,000,000, and applications will be accepted from 29/02/2024 until 19/04/2024.

  1. Fiscal Accounts of General Government – Surplus €876,3 mn

The preliminary General Government fiscal results, which are prepared by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT) indicate a surplus of €876,3 mn (2,9% of GDP) for the period of January-December 2023, as compared to a surplus of €676,3 mn (2,4% of GDP) that was recorded during the period of January-December 2022.

    2.  Turnover Value Index of Services – 4th Quarter 2023

The Turnover Value Index during the fourth quarter of 2023 recorded increases in the sectors of accommodation and food service activities (16,4%), administrative and support service activities (11,9%) and information and communication activities (5,8%), whereas a decrease was recorded in the professional, scientific and technical activities sector (-1,7%) compared to the corresponding quarter of 2022.

During the period January-December 2023, increases relative to the corresponding period of 2022 were observed in the indices of accommodation and food service activities (18,9%), administrative and support service activities (15,5%), professional, scientific and technical activities (2,7%) and information and communication (2,0%).

3. Revenue from Tourism – December 2023 +29,0%

Based on the results of the Passengers Survey carried out by the Statistical Service, revenue from tourism reached €74,3 mn in December 2023 compared to €57,6 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 29,0%.

For the period of January – December 2023, revenue from tourism is estimated at €2.990,6 mn compared to €2.439,2 mn in the corresponding period of 2022, recording an increase of 22,6%.
